Luangwa National in Eastern Zambia in Luangwa district offers the finest Self-driving safaris in its wildness. From Lusaka or Livingstone, it’s remote and wild, but worth a visit. The park derives its name from the Luangwa River which flows from Lilonda and Mafinga hills in the northeast at an elevation of 1500 meters near the Tanzania and Malawi border straight to the southwest in the broad valley. The park is known for elephants, lions, Cape buffaloes, and Leopards. Rhinos were poached to extinction around 20 years back.
