Kitulo National Park is a protected montane Area in Kitulo region in southern Tanzania. With grasslands and montane forests, Kitulo sits on the southern highland plateau. The park is known for its floristic importance and is the first in Africa. In Tanzania, it is also known as the Serengeti of Flowers, with the greatest flora spectacles and over 350 species of plants are found here including the terrestrial orchid. The park is nestled at an elevation of 2600 meters above sea level. It’s ensconced amidst Kipengere, Livingstone and Poroto mountains.

Kitulo National Park is an important watershed for the Ruaha River. It is well known for its floral and the presence of orchids. The stunning yellow-orange red-hot poker, proteas, geraniums, giant lobelias, and lilies of which more than 30 species are endemic to this region. The big game is sparsely represented, though a few hardy mountain reedbucks and elands roam the open Savannah grassland. Kitulo is a hiker’s paradise, and highly alluring for birdwatchers. The rare Denham’s bustard is inhabited here in Kitulo National Park, alongside a breeding colony of the endangered blue swallow, Mountain Marsh Widow, Njombe cisticola and Kipengere seedeater. In addition, species of Butterflies, Chameleons, Lizards and frogs.
