Get an East African Visa.

Apply for an East African Visa and avoid paying more money at the border crossing. This covers Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya. In other countries like Burundi and Tanzania, you will pay visa on arrival. The visa expires if you move out of these three countries, and so you pay again. It can be applied online and it saves time.

Pay Comesa fees

These are fees for the car crossing from one country to another and in this case, Tanzania is exclusive, so here you pay normal insurance fees.

Always plan a day trip.

Because you take a road trip every morning, calculate the time you will be driving and avoid driving at night. This is for your safety and better for your adventure. East Africa is safe but does not make people take advantage of you. When travelling on East African roads and African roads in general, avoid overspending on highways as the traffic is high sometimes. Always budget your time driving between destinations and do not over-depend on the GPS, it may not be very accurate. Respect trading centres by going 40 to 50 km per hour, as there might be domestic animals on the road. When you access the National parks, roads are very tough. Hitting small rocks may result in wasting your precious time on fixing the car. When you are staying in national parks for more than a day, remember to have enough gas (especially petrol) where in some parts it’s not available for refilling. Take extra gas and avoid burning near the cars.
