Job Description

Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment

The selected faculty member will report to the Chairman of the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, and hold a rank of Assistant Professor, based on prior level of experience and academic accomplishments. The selected faculty will provide clinical care to patients, manage care teams for both inpatient and outpatient settings, and provide a teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in the specialties of Lymphoma/Myeloma. He/she will independently design, execute, and conduct a broad range of research projects in his/her respective field with a focus on translational and clinical studies.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Administration: Serves on institutional and hospital committees and attends appropriate meetings.
  • Education/Teaching: Attends, participates, and leads Department teachings and continuing education conferences.
  • Patient Care: Practices clinical medicine in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, and the American College of Physicians, properly balanced with other academic activities.
  • Research: Actively engages in clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department.
  • Service: Includes internal activities within MD Anderson and external services activities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas. Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline), unless exempted.
  • At least 5 years' experience post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee (except specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships)
