Job Description

The staff photographer is a vital member of the Marketing and Communications team. This position supports Florida Tech’s visual storytelling through compelling photography and video production used in marketing, recruitment, news and event coverage. The ideal candidate is creative, curious, friendly and flexible, comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and interacting with a variety of university stakeholders, including students, alumni, faculty/staff and donors. Evening and weekend hours are required. Responsibilities Serve as the lead photographer, capturing dynamic, brand‑aligned imagery for marketing campaigns, publications, website, social media, events and university news. Act as the primary event photographer for campus events such as orientation, commencement, homecoming, and other activities, ensuring availability during evenings and weekends as assigned. Capture a diverse array of images, including studio portraits, editorial imagery, news coverage, environmental campus shots, and candid/event photography. Coordinate campus‑wide photo and video shoots, including scheduling locations, sourcing participants, and managing photo releases and content details. Support the Director of Creative Services and Brand Management in maintaining the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, ensuring assets are accurately culled, labeled, categorized and archived. Collaborate with the video producer on specific marketing video projects, shooting B‑roll, providing on‑set assistance and editing short promotional videos. Support the university’s content strategy by providing timely photos and video content for key campaigns and initiatives. Sourcing imagery and providing photo galleries as requested by campus partners. Provide high‑quality editing, color correction, retouching and photo/video optimization. Maintain consistent visual standards and adhere to Florida Tech’s brand guidelines across all assets. Fulfill additional responsibilities to support institutional priorities as assigned. Requirements Demonstrated ability to capture, edit and deliver high‑quality digital photography and video. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro). Strong portfolio that showcases a mix of editorial, lifestyle, studio and event work. Knowledge of best practices for visual storytelling, including composition, lighting and branding. Experience in managing and organizing content using a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of lifting and transporting equipment weighing 25 to 50 pounds, with the ability to stand, kneel or crouch for extended periods during photo and video sessions. Flexibility to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. Bachelor’s degree in photography, visual arts, multimedia production or related field preferred. 5 to 7 years of experience producing multimedia in marketing, agency or media environments preferred.
