✨Full-Time Special Education Teacher Assistant Opportunity Available in Providence, RI!

Schedule: Full-Time; Monday- Friday 8:15AM - 3:30PM, Tuesdays 8:15AM - 4:15PM (Plus 2 Saturdays per year in April & December from 10:00AM - 1:00PM)

This position provides direct instruction to students in classrooms and monitoring of progress, and supports students in learning academics, functional living skills, and appropriate behaviors and social skills. Teacher Assistants/Behavior Specialists are trained by clinicians in applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and other areas, and work with a supportive team that includes Special Education Teachers, BCBAs, Speech/Language pathologists, psychologists and more!

Education, Experience and Special Skills:

  • Candidates must have completed at least two years of a college or the equivalent of 60 college credits
  • In lieu of a college experience, candidates must have a Teacher Assistant certification and a Para-Pro/Para-Pathways certification
  • Experience working with children with autism and developmental disabilities to implement vocational and recreational activities ensuring their health and safety
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak in English proficiently
  • Ability to speak, see & hear clearly/audibly, as well as write legibly for documentation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Professional, patient, helpful and respectful communication skills with staff, students, their families or other parties
  • Ability to intervene with clients when needed to implement behavioral inventions including physical restraint and lifting
  • Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, reach and/or move regularly
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing for at least three years
  • Transportation of students via company vans or personal vehicles is required
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required (We provide training if needed)
  • Teacher Assistant Certification required (We provide training if needed)
  • Safety Care training (We provide training if needed)
