Job SummaryThis position performs clerical work requiring the application of various work methods and procedures, and familiarity with departmental functions, policies, and practices. The position may report to a Clerk‑Typist H, Clerk HII, department head, or elected official, and does not supervise employees.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCheck, analyze, classify, and alphabetize materials; Conduct limited research when necessary; Make simple postings to departmental records; Issue licenses, permits, certificates, writs, titles, or other legal documents in accordance with regulations; Prepare reports involving tabulations, posted data, and basic arithmetic calculations; Receive and issue receipts for payments; Index records and information.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent plus at least six (6) months of clerical experience; Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic; Office practices and procedures; Departmental rules and regulations; Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Ability to maintain records and files; Ability to interact effectively with the public; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to type at least 35 WPM and/or operate a calculator by touch as required.
Working ConditionsPrimarily seated in a front desk or reception area; Occasional lifting of files or office supplies up to 15 lbs; Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and providers.
