Dispatcher - Associated Federal Pilots & Docking Masters of Louisiana, LLC
For over 50 years, we have been piloting vessels on the Mississippi River between Southwest Pass and Baton Rouge.
We are currently looking for full or part time dispatch candidates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage high volume phone calls
• Dispatch equipment and personnel as specified
• Maintain records of communications and dispatching activities
• Ensure that critical information is communicated to appropriate persons
• Continually work with river pilots and clients
• Capable of learning and retaining general knowledge of the Mississippi River, from Baton Rouge to Southwest Pass.
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
• Capable of learning rules, regulations, and procedures efficiently
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, strong Customer Service skills
• Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, high pressure work environment
• Available to work a flexible schedule including overtime as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years dispatching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Mississippi River from Baton Rouge to Southwest Pass.
• Hours: We are a 24/7 operation. The work schedule is TBD based on availability.
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as company policies, rules and regulations
• Proficient in data entry and must be computer literate (Excel and Outlook)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to complete reports and correspondence.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries from clients and river pilots.
• Commitment to work as a team member for the benefit of the company.
• Ability to work with limited to no supervision and direction
• Assertive personality.
• Being detail-oriented is a must
• Knowledge of and/or experience using two-way communications devices is a plus
• Ability and commitment to handle information in a confidential manner.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and crisis situations.
