Job Title: HVAC Project Manager (Construction / HVAC)

Department: Jackson Hole (General)

Reports To: General Manager

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Jackson/Idaho Falls

Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000 DOE

Position Summary

The Project Manager independently manages new construction and retrofit HVAC projects from estimating through closeout. Primary project types include residential new construction and mechanical retrofits. This role owns the full project lifecycle—including detailed cost estimating, ductwork takeoffs, material and equipment procurement, job costing, scheduling, and field team support—ensuring the company's standard of excellence is delivered on every job.

This role works closely with the General Manager on larger or more complex work and is designed to grow into greater autonomy and responsibility. We believe in promoting from within and is committed to the long-term development of this individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Estimating Support

  • Perform job walks to obtain accurate field measurements, existing conditions, and relevant project data needed to build reliable estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and ductwork fabrication; perform ductwork takeoffs and coordinate material specs with the in-house fabrication team.
  • Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes.
  • Maintain pricing databases and historical cost records.
  • Prepare bid packages and support proposal assembly.
  • Track bid deadlines and submission requirements.

Project Coordination

  • Lead project setup including job folders, cost codes, and all required documentation.
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Own job costing throughout the project lifecycle—track labor, material, and subcontractor actuals vs. estimates, identify variances, and deliver closeout cost reports.
  • Manage scheduling coordination between field teams and subcontractors to keep projects on track.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders for materials, equipment, and subcontractors; coordinate delivery schedules to align with project timelines.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical project records.

Administrative & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between estimating, field teams, vendors, and management.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and internal project handoff meetings.
  • Prepare meeting notes and distribute action items.
  • Assist with compliance documentation and permit tracking.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or coursework in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in HVAC, estimating, or project coordination required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical components, and construction processes.
  • Boiler, water heater, and hydronic controls preferred.
  • Familiarity with ServiceTitan preferred; experience with construction scheduling tools (Gantt, project management software) a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting of office materials or drawings up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional site visits may require walking, climbing, or navigating construction environments

Work Environment

  • Office-based with occasional visits to job sites
  • Exposure to typical office equipment, computers, and communication devices
  • Moderate noise levels typical of office or construction environments

Schedule

  • Typically Monday through Friday
